Russian Authors - Enriching The World With Their Literary Masterpieces Print E-mail
Russian literature is very colorful and dynamic. This is due to the fact that there are several Russian authors and each one added a unique dimension to the whole body of literary works in Russia.

One forerunner in the onslaught of emerging authors afterward is Alexander Pushkin. He is considered to be the "Father of Russian Literature". He is credited for introducing a new level of Russian literature with his work such as Eugene Onegin during the Golden Era.

And seemingly right after, new generation of writers and poets emerged. Famous Russian poets such as Konstantin Batyushkov, Fyodor Tyutchev, Mikhail Lermontov, among others, were heavily influenced by the works of Pushkin. Russian literature is never devoid of poetry with famous works like the patriotic "Fatherland" by Lermontov and archetypal "Silentium!" by Tyutchev.

On the other hand, in the area of prose, we know of names such as Leo Tolstoy. Tolstoy penned influential novels like "Anna Karenina" and "War and Peace" which many extolled as one of the great novels ever. He influenced several key leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. With his brand of philosophy that is so much apparent in his works.

The flourishing Russian literature has also seen a great novelist in Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Dostoyevsky was also an essayist and whose work include "Crime and Punishment" and "The Brothers Karamazov" both of which are acclaimed as great literary piece. He made such an impression on the area of human psychology and explored it thoroughly through the characters in his novels.

Anton Chekhov is Russia's very own master in short story writing . He was one of the best dramatist during his lifetime as well. Aside from being an author, he was practicing as a doctor as well. His works include "The Cherry Orchard and "Three Sisters" which is considered a forerunner in its genre.

As the mood and environment in Russia paved the way for several budding writers to flourish, the nineteenth century has seen the emergence of fiction story writer. Non-fiction also have its share of notable authors such as Alexander Herzen, Aleksandr Ostrovsky and Aleksandr Griboyedov.

Indeed, Russia has its own share of great novelists, poets and writers to the world. And the works is greatly enriched because of it. History is shaped largely due to the great literary works all over the world. Words and ideas knows no boundaries. And it is no doubt that the great Russian authors has set its own influence in the course of world history.
